Seattle: The Locks

A is such a mellow baby, and we had a great time playing with him.  I am really glad we had the chance to see him at this age because the next time we see him, he may be crawling, walking or even talking.  Come visit auntie & uncle soon!

what a cutie!!

We started with brunch at Ray’s Cafe, which is on the second level of Ray’s Boathouse.  The view was absolutely stunning, and the food was delicious.  We started with Salt & Pepper Seared Ahi Tuna and Wicked Hot Wings for appetizers.  Sorry, we dug in, and I forgot to take pictures first.  Luckily, I did remember to snap shots of our entrees.

Chatham Strait Sablefish in Sake Kasu:  grilled choy sum, jasmine rice, honey soy and scallion oil

Grilled Salmon Burger:  fresh salmon ground and seasoned at Ray’s topped with spinach leaves and tarragon-shallot mayonnaise

Ling Cod Fish & Chips:  panko breaded and fried golden, served with housemade tartar

Dungeness Crab & Shrimp Cakes:  artichoke and olsen farm potato hash, watercress, aleppo pepper aioli

Every dish we ordered was really good.  The fish & chips came with sweet potato fries that were scrumptious.  Afterwards, we headed to the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks.  Pretty interesting how they move the boats from salt water to fresh water (or vice versa).

In the afternoon, we enjoyed tasty cupcakes from Trophy.  We could not stop eating them!  The flavors we ordered were Chocolate Vanilla, Snowball, Chocolate Covered Pretzel, Lemon Coconut, and Triple Chocolate.  My favorites were the Snowball and Lemon Coconut

We enjoyed Mae Phim Thai Restaurant takeout for dinner at home.  We ordered the usual: pad thai, pad see ew, basil chicken and panang curry.  Good stuff.  My belly got to the food first.  My camera had no chance.
