Sweet vs Salty

The other day I was reading random articles/sites online, and I came across “30 Secrets Your Waiter Will Never Tell you” which then led me to “20 Secrets Your Waiter Won’t Tell You.”  I was really surprised by slide 2 where the waitress said that they put sugar in kids’ meals.

So, while in Tahoe with LL and J (post coming tomorrow), I mentioned the articles above and how disturbed I was about sugar in kids’ meals.  LL commented that companies that make sweet snacks rely on the sugar to get customers coming back to buy their products but that the same is not true for salty snacks.  I found this really interesting because sometimes I crave cookies (sweet) and when I get to the supermarket I end up buying crackers (salty).  Afterwards, I am bummed out because I did not buy anything sweet.  Really strange!

Do you prefer sweet or salty?  Do you ever buy the opposite of what you are craving?
