Singapore: Clarke Quay, Raffles Hotel, Airport

On Saturday, our last full day of sightseeing, we made our way over to the Clarke Quay.  In one of the plazas across the way, we enjoyed a wonderful mango shaved ice.  It was so tasty that we enjoyed a second mango shaved ice as we found our way to the Raffles Hotel.

After the sights, we grabbed some dinner at the Food Opera at Ion Orchard.  I enjoyed another round of chicken and rice with vegetables while Hubby dined on a bowl of beef noodles.

On Sunday, we grubbed our last meal in Singapore at the Food Republic on Orchard Road.  We each had fried rice with an assortment of meat and vegetable sides.

During our trip, we stayed at the M Hotel in Financial District.  The hotel was nice; however, I would not recommend it for tourists.  Since Hubby’s office was a block away, it was a great location for us.

The Singapore airport has a beautiful butterfly exhibit.  It was interesting that there was a pineapple stand to attract the butterflies (see the bottom right photo below).

And, of course, we had to take a picture of Domo on the people mover.  He is so well traveled.

We had a fabulous time in Singapore.  As you can see from the photos and blog posts, the trip mainly consisted of eating, which was a lot of fun.  Glad we were able to scratch another country off our travel list.  Where to next?

Singapore: Sentosa Island

On Friday, after three days of work, it was time to get back to fun.  That can only mean Sentosa Island.

We started the day with lunch at the Food Republic in Vivo City.  Popiah, dumplings, and beef noodle soup.

Then, we boarded the Sentosa Express for the short ride over to the island.  We got off at the third and last stop for Underwater World Singapore and Dolphin Lagoon.  At the aquarium, there is a turtle pond out front and a moving walk way tunnel that showcases a lot of different fish, sharks, and other sea creatures.  My favorite part of the aquarium was the dolphin lagoon where we watched both the pink dolphin show and the fur seals show.

After an enjoyable afternoon at the aquarium, we checked out Siloso Beach.

Then we headed over to the Harbour Front.  The Universal Studios Singapore is there along with something similar to the City Walk in LA.  We spotted Candylicious, a giant candy store with beautiful displays outside.

After roaming around a bit more, we headed back to the mainland.  We ended the day with dinner at the Food Republic again, but this time we had bibimbap and noodles with spare ribs.

A wonderful day in Singapore.  Only one and a half days left of our lovely vacation.
