Singapore: Sentosa Island

On Friday, after three days of work, it was time to get back to fun.  That can only mean Sentosa Island.

We started the day with lunch at the Food Republic in Vivo City.  Popiah, dumplings, and beef noodle soup.

Then, we boarded the Sentosa Express for the short ride over to the island.  We got off at the third and last stop for Underwater World Singapore and Dolphin Lagoon.  At the aquarium, there is a turtle pond out front and a moving walk way tunnel that showcases a lot of different fish, sharks, and other sea creatures.  My favorite part of the aquarium was the dolphin lagoon where we watched both the pink dolphin show and the fur seals show.

After an enjoyable afternoon at the aquarium, we checked out Siloso Beach.

Then we headed over to the Harbour Front.  The Universal Studios Singapore is there along with something similar to the City Walk in LA.  We spotted Candylicious, a giant candy store with beautiful displays outside.

After roaming around a bit more, we headed back to the mainland.  We ended the day with dinner at the Food Republic again, but this time we had bibimbap and noodles with spare ribs.

A wonderful day in Singapore.  Only one and a half days left of our lovely vacation.

Hubby’s Family’s First Visit

Over Labor Day weekend, Hubby’s family gathered in the Bay Area for the first of hopefully many family reunions.

On Friday, we relaxed and played by the hotel pool where J, F and A were staying.  The dads accompanied the youngins into the water while the moms and I just dipped our feet in the water.

After all the fun in the pool, everyone was starving.  So, we headed to Frankie, Johnnie and Luigi Too.

Aren’t these 2nd cousins a bunch of cuties??

On Saturday, we spent the afternoon at Happy Hallow Park and Zoo.  I think I may have had more fun than the kiddos.  The zoo and petting zoo areas are small but have a good variety of animals considering the size.  The park consists of a few rides and a large playground.

Dinner was bbq back at our place.  The bbq menu this time included: steak, chicken, corn on the cob, grilled zucchini and salad.  Yummy in my tummy.

On Sunday, we drove up to San Francisco to visit the California Academy of Sciences.  It has an aquarium, rainforest, and planetarium.  Unfortunately, we did not catch the planetarium show, but everything else was quite interesting.

We had a fabulous time over the holiday weekend.  There are always wonderful memories to be had with family.  J and F graciously invited us to Seattle for next year’s reunion.  We are looking forward to it.
