Explore, Explore, Explore

I am starting off 2011 with recapping the last few events of 2010.

Hubby’s company holiday party was exactly a month ago on December 10 at the Exploratorium.  We shuttled into San Francisco in Friday rush hour traffic, so it took almost two hours to get there.  We both took a nice little nap.

The Exploratorium had a lot of interesting exhibits and interactive gadgets on display.  The delicious food included a potsticker bar, sushi/oyster/crab cake stations, sandwich/salad stations, and a room dedicated to desserts.  After our fill of food, we waited in line for the best part of the night - digital caraciture by Event Toons.  I think we stood in line for almost two hours, but it was worth the wait.

Before leaving, we posed for a quick picture.  Do the caracitures above look like us?

Thankfully, the shuttle ride home was uneventful, unlike last year.  Good times.

Hubby’s Family Visits

Over Labor Day weekend, Hubby’s family gathered in the Bay Area for the first of hopefully many family reunions.

On Friday, we relaxed and played by the hotel pool where J, F and A were staying.  The dads accompanied the youngins into the water while the moms and I just dipped our feet in the water.

After all the fun in the pool, everyone was starving.  So, we headed to Frankie, Johnnie and Luigi Too.

Aren’t these 2nd cousins a bunch of cuties??

On Saturday, we spent the afternoon at Happy Hallow Park and Zoo.  I think I may have had more fun than the kiddos.  The zoo and petting zoo areas are small but have a good variety of animals considering the size.  The park consists of a few rides and a large playground.

Dinner was bbq back at our place.  The bbq menu this time included: steak, chicken, corn on the cob, grilled zucchini and salad.  Yummy in my tummy.

On Sunday, we drove up to San Francisco to visit the California Academy of Sciences.  It has an aquarium, rainforest, and planetarium.  Unfortunately, we did not catch the planetarium show, but everything else was quite interesting.

We had a fabulous time over the holiday weekend.  There are always wonderful memories to be had with family.  J and F graciously invited us to Seattle for next year’s reunion.  We are looking forward to it.

A & A Visit

The first weekend in August, A and A came up for a lovely visit.  It was so great to see them!

Saturday morning, we headed to Los Gatos for brunch at Southern Kitchen.  Luckily, we were seated right away.  A ordered the Country Fried Steak that came out on three separate plates.  Quite amazing!  A and I split the Apple Stuffed French Toast, and Hubby had the Belgian Waffle.  Everything was delicious, and we plan on going back to try other items on the menu.

After brunch, we stopped by Los Gatos Creek Trail to walk off the food we just enjoyed.  It was a nice leisurely walk around the lake, where we saw turtles, geese, ducks, a swan, and fish.

That night, LL and LS stopped by as well for great bonding and yummy bbq.  The menu this time included: steak, salmon, shrimp, corn on the cob, zucchini, and salad.

On Sunday, A & A spent the day in San Francisco.  For dinner, LL, J, Hubby and I drove into the city to join them at Thanh Long.  The two couples enjoyed Roasted Crabs and Garlic Noodles while Hubby and I shared the Colossal Royal Tiger Prawns and Shaken Beef.  Good stuff!

After dinner, we devoured dessert at Genki Crepes.  Even though we were full from dinner, we gobbled the crepes really quickly.

Thanks for visiting A and A; we had a fabulous time.  Come again soon!
