On July 2nd, we attended the first of only two weddings this year. Coincidentally, both grooms have the same name and their weddings were on back-to-back weekends.

Since we were planning to head to LA for the long weekend, we rented a car one-way to Sacramento and then flew out of SMF to LAX. I thought the drive was only an hour and a half, but it turned out to be almost three hours with all the traffic. Thankfully, baby E slept most of the way.

I met K first year at UCLA. I missed one of my 8am Econ classes and had seen K in my building before. So, I went looking for him to ask if I could borrow his notes. Luckily, he didn’t think I was some crazy stalker and let me use them. Second year, we were both PAs and worked together all the time. Despite K’s strong personality, we’ve always gotten along great. I am so happy that he’s found the love of his life T, as they make a perfect couple together.

K and T’s wedding took place at the beautiful Wilson’s Vineyard in Clarksburg. It was a gorgeous backdrop for their wonderful ceremony/reception. We are so happy to have been able to celebrate with them on their special day.

ceremony

It is official…today marks the beginning of the last year of my 20s. Being 29 isn’t a big deal; it’s the looming 3-0 that is. Honestly, I know nothing is really going to change, except being another year older. But having a 3 in front just seems so foreign and strange. It was the same way 10 years ago going from teens to 20s and I am sure it will be like that with each future decade.

We celebrated with lunch at Maggiano’s Little Italy. Baby E did really well and slept through the whole meal. We definitely enjoyed our outing as a family.

Happy 2nd Anniversary, Hubby!

A couple of months ago, I was thinking about our upcoming anniversary and was shocked to realize that it was only going to be our second wedding anniversary. It felt like we should be celebrating our fourth or fifth. When I mentioned this to Hubby, he was like no, no…it feels like two years. A few weeks later, he messaged me to confirm our wedding date. I asked him why, and he said that he was talking to a co-worker and told him that we were married for a few years (instead of two). All I had to say to that was, “I told you so!”.

This year our gift to each other is the addition of baby E to our family. She is such a blessing!

our little family on May 6 (the day we were discharged from the hospital)

As a reminder of our commitment to each other:

On this special day,
I,…, give to you…,
in the presence of God
and our family and friends,
my sacred promise to stay by your side
in sickness and in health,
in joy and in sorrow,
through good times and bad.
I promise to love you without reservation,
comfort you in times of distress,
encourage you to achieve all of your life’s goals.
I will laugh with you and cry with you,
grow with you in mind and spirit
and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.

This year has flown by. We moved into our house and did a bunch of DIY remodeling (some of which we are still working on). We traveled to Hawaii for our first anniversary and Singapore for work. We enjoyed a summer full of BBQs and continued to experiment in the kitchen. We got pregnant and had a baby girl. The memories are plentiful and the love bountiful.

Hubby, here’s to many more to come! Cheers!

I haven’t posted about our turtles in a LONG time. Big, Little and Baby are all doing well. They’re definitely getting bigger from all the pieces of shell I found while cleaning their tanks. They sunbathe all day and take a dip in the water when it gets too warm. They enjoy a wide variety of pellets, lettuce, grapes and strawberries. They have it good.

Big and Little are too difficult to take pictures of. When I get close to the tank, they constantly flap around begging for food or quickly move to another location. On the other hand, Baby sleeps peacefully and stays rather still. So, here are a couple pictures of Baby sleeping while sunbathing the other day.

Hubby and I planned a visit to southern California for mid-March. One of my work clients asked if I could come on-site for a couple days, so I arranged it to coincide with our trip down. Kill two birds with one stone.

I flew down Wednesday night to work on Thursday and Friday. Lucky for me, I think it may have been spring break, so the commute from my parents’ place to Santa Monica was not too bad. On Thursday night, I dined with my aunt and cousins from Arizona and grandma at Cafe Spot in Alhambra. It was fun having a girls’ night.

On Friday night, my parents and I joined my boss and her family for dinner at Full House in Arcadia. We enjoyed yummy dishes, but due to Lent, had to miss out on the Peking duck. I picked up two boxes of girl scout cookies from my boss’ daughter, too! Mmmmm…samoas…mmmm…dulce de leche…mmmmm! After dinner, I headed back to the airport to return my rental car and pick up Hubby.

Saturday morning, I had a wonderful breakfast with my beautiful girl friends at Storyteller’s Cafe at Downtown Disney. The company was fabulous and made me realize how much I miss them. I wish they would all move to Nor Cal and be closer to us and LL. The food was good, too, especially the Mickey Mouse waffles.

<3 you girls!

Saturday night, J and V had a housewarming for the family friends at their new home in Whittier. They did a great job with the home remodeling and made a scrumptious dinner of prime rib for us! Good times were had as we shared stories and laughs. Thanks for your great hospitality J and V!

Sunday was spent with Hubby’s family in Redlands. Lunch at Chili’s and the afternoon hanging out at the house. A and E have grown so much and definitely have their own individual personalities. We also celebrated BIL’s birthday a little early. Too bad I only have a picture of the cake and not of people.

Monday we ran some errands and relaxed. In the afternoon, J stopped by for a short visit. We had dinner with my parents before they took us to the airport. Our flight was delayed 90 minutes due to air traffic control grounding flights earlier in the day because of bad weather. At least we got off the ground though because there was a flight to SFO that got cancelled.

Our visit was short, but full of wonderful memories. Until next time So Cal!
