Family Friends

On Thursday, December 22, we invited the family friends over for a holiday dinner. Auntie S cooked a feast which included soup, steak, fish, veggies, specialty rice, and dessert.

I’m bummed we didn’t take a group shot of the “kids”, but the parents took one.

On Wednesday, December 21, 2011, we braved the long line at Ding Tai Fung (Arcadia) for their scrumptious xiao long baos. After dinner, we headed back to my parents’ house to open gifts and eat yummy Junior’s cheesecake (shipped from New York).

Lunch with SAGs

I love my SAGs. I’ve known A and LL for almost 20 years and C and LY for over 15 years. These girls are awesome, and I look forward to our get togethers. It’s amazing to see how our group has grown from 5 girls to 5 girls with husbands (10) to 5 girls with husbands and kids (currently at 15 and counting).

December 20, 2011 – LY hosted us at her lovely home, and A brought sandwiches and salad from Specialty’s (Irvine). Good times.

December 26 – LL wasn’t down yet for the first lunch, so we gathered for a second lunch at BJ’s. LY brought a cake to celebrate A and LL’s 3-0 birthdays. Fun, fun.

El Pollo Inka and Relatives

On Monday, December 19, 2011, we headed to El Pollo Inka (Torrance) to celebrate Hubby’s belated birthday dinner. The food was delicious as always.

After dinner, we stopped by to visit with Hubby’s relatives. Baby E met another one of her great-grandmas and both of them were all smiles.

Stonehill Tavern & St. Regis Monarch Beach

My parents had a hotel certificate that was expiring, so they offered to let us use it at the St. Regis Monarch Beach. While we were out with Hubby’s friends in the morning, my parents, brother and his girlfriend headed down to the hotel and checked things out. Later we joined them for a pleasant dinner at Stonehill Tavern.

Dim Sum with Friends

On Sunday, December 18, 2011, we ate dim sum with some of Hubby’s friends at 888 Seafood Restaurant in Rosemead. It was so great to see all of them, especially J & Y’s baby E for the first time.

Dinner at Boss’ House

On Saturday, December 17, 2011, my boss opened her home to us for dinner. We had Asian tacos, which were really tasty. We used seaweed (instead of tortilla), bulgogi as the meat, and toppings of sushi rice, Asian pear, tomato and avocado. It was a fun night and great to see my boss in person instead of just hearing her voice over the phone.

2011 Winter Holiday Recap

We enjoyed 12 wonderful days in So Cal for the holidays. We spent a lot of time with family and friends, and Baby E had a fabulous first Christmas.

Here’s a quick rundown of the events:

Wednesday, 12/14 – arrived into LAX
Friday, 12/16 – lunch at Chick-fil-A (Cerritos), shopping, dinner at Islands (West LA) with Hubby’s old co-workers
Saturday, 12/17 – dim sum with my grandma at King Hua (Alhambra), shopping in Old Town Pasadena, dinner at my boss’ house
Sunday, 12/18 – dim sum with Hubby’s friends at 888 Seafood Restaurant (Rosemead), dinner with my family at Stonehill Tavern (Dana Point), stayed the night at the St. Regis Monarch Beach
Monday, 12/19 – dinner at El Pollo Inka (Torrance) for Hubby’s birthday, visited Hubby’s grandma and cousins
Tuesday, 12/20 – lunch with the SAGs
Wednesday, 12/21 – dinner at Din Tai Fung (Arcadia) with my grandma and Arizona relatives and then Elfster exchange with them
Thursday, 12/22 – dinner with the family friends at my parents’ house
Friday, 12/23 – hung out with my in-laws and stayed at their place
Saturday, 12/24 – Christmas Eve with my in-laws
Sunday, 12/25 – Christmas Day with my family
Monday, 12/26 – lunch with the SAGs at BJ’s (Downey), headed back to SJC

Happy Birthday Hubby!

Hubby’s big THREE-OH birthday! Since his real 30th birthday, Hubby has requested that we no longer keep track of the passing years. I think that is a fair request and am respecting his wishes.

Usually, I make a birthday cake from box mix, but this year I opted for ice cream cake bites from Baskin-Robbins.

Since we were heading down to So Cal the next day (and still had lots of packing to do), we decided to have his birthday dinner down south at one of his favorite restaurants, El Pollo Inka in Torrance.
