The Day after Tax Day

Friday, April 16th, 2010

…was our dating anniversary.  I say “was” because since the wedding, Hubby and I decided to only celebrate our wedding anniversary.  So, I wanted to commemorate past dating anniversaries.

Five years ago today, we bravely ventured down to the San Diego Wild Animal Park for our first date.  I am not sure why we planned a first date that involved two hours in the car each way plus an all day activity, but we had a fantastic time and survived to tell about it.

For our 1st anniversary in 2006, we used our annual passes for some fun at Disneyland.  He has that same face, when I hang from his neck, too.  Hubby, you know you love it!

In 2007, we celebrated our 2nd anniversary aboard the Carnival Fun Ship to Baja, California.  We had a good time getting away from the weekend and eating lots of food.

We enjoyed dinner at Roy’s Restaurant and dessert from Beard Papa’s for our 3rd anniversary.  Yummy in my tummy!  I think the pink candles in the creme puffs are cute.  Don’t you?

To celebrate our last dating anniversary, we dined at Beacon in Culver City.  To continue the tradition from the year before, we also had four creme puffs from Beard Papa.  Too bad we will not be continuing that this year.

It amazes me how fast time flies.  In five years, we have created many wonderful memories, and I am excited to see what the future holds for us.  Happy Five Year Dating Anniversary, Hubby!

Can You Feel the Love Tonight?

A wonderful movie and perfect song for Valentine’s Day!

Hubby and I do not like crowds, so we usually celebrate Valentine’s Day early.  This year, we headed to Aldo Los Altos for dinner on Tuesday night.  It was perfect: quaint downtown location, no wait, tasty food, and attentive service.  I wanted to try this restaurant because they had Cicchetti, which are “small bites” and the Italian version of tapas.

We shared five Cicchetti dishes and were quite full.  Not sure if it was because almost everything we ordered was fried, though.

Antipasto Mistro per due: Prosciutto, Salumi, Crescenza cheese, Cipolline

Patatine Fritte: homemade potato chips with rosemary and sea salt served with saffron mayonnaise

Gnocco di Pane: puff pastry filled with mushroom and fontina cheese

Ravioli fritti: 4 cheese fried ravioli, balsamic reduction

Calamari Fritti: fried calamari served with marnara and lemon aioli

Of course, we had to try the creme brulee for dessert.

Coconut Crema Bruciata: homemade rich Coconut creme brulee served with fresh raspberries

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Hope you had a day full of love with loved ones!

Bye Bye 2009

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

It is astonishing how fast time flies.  2009 is drawing to a close.  Recently, on the tv show Medium, the 16 year old daughter was mad at her parents for picking her up from a sleepover with her friends and 18 year old boys.  The mom explained to her that the time would come when she will be 18 and can have fun at such parties.  But, the time she spent being mad at her parents would just *poof* be gone, and she would not get those precious seconds back.  Thinking about that, I am going to strive to live each moment to the fullest because once it is gone; it is gone.
